Michael joined the Group 2008 having spent 16 years at Halifax/HBOS plc in a broad range of roles including Group Strategy, Investor Relations and Group Programme Office, where he established the programme management disciplines that underpinned the merger of Halifax and Bank of Scotland in 2001. He was Finance Director of the General Insurance business, with responsibility for capital management, reinsurance and the development of a risk management capability. He was Head of Risk for the Insurance and Investment division before becoming Head of Creditor and Protection, with responsibility for all aspects of Payment Protection Insurance, Life and Critical Illness products.
