Brokers vote UK General as one of the top 20 commercial insurers in the UK
UK General has delivered an impressive leap forward in the annual Insurance 360 Business Insurance Insight Report. The rankings, which are voted on by UK insurance brokers and organised by Incisive Media, owners of Insurance Post and Insurance Age Magazine, are undertaken annually and were published in December.
Climbing an enormous 17 places to 19th, UK General was the report’s highest climber; brokers reported that performance improved dramatically in every area, ranking above some of the industry’s biggest names including MMA, Towergate, Groupama, LV and Allianz.
Karen Beales, technical director, said “We have really focused on products and underwriting in 2011. Restructuring these teams to improve our service and performance has paid off and we are delighted brokers have seen a big improvement.”
The report stated that brokers found UK General’s staff efficient, professional and willing to work hard to write business.
Karen said that UK General, which includes specialist agricultural insurer Rural Insurance, is determined to climb even higher up the rankings next year “The new structure and partnership between sales and underwriting has improved our relationship with brokers and enhanced their view and knowledge of UK General.”
Cathie Bruce started her new role in December as managing director of commercial insurance and will spearhead efforts to deliver ambitious growth for UK General Commercial. Cathie welcomed the report’s findings and said she looked forward to playing her part in building further momentum in the business. “It was a great way of welcoming me into my new role, just before Christmas, and I’m delighted the performance of the UK General Commercial team has been recognised by our most important audience, our brokers.”
