UK General extends commercial product range following new capacity deals

UK General Ltd, the Leeds-based specialist insurer, is adding to its portfolio from this month after signing new distribution deal with Ansvar.

Mrs Beales said that UK General will be offering a series of specialist products from the Ansvar ‘Connect’ stable. They include Charity Connect, Trustees Financial Connect, Community Group Connect and Special Event Connect.

“We expect customers to include churches and church organisations, charities and other voluntary groups,” she said, adding: “Central and Local Authority funding for public services is reducing, as the Government deals with the deficit, so the onus for community services provision is falling more and more on charities and voluntary groups. In a more litigious culture, voluntary groups need the protection these products provide, and we expect them to be very popular with our brokers.”

Mrs Beales said: The deal with Ansvar is central to our strategy to provide wider access to specialist and niche markets for our brokers. We are actively seeking to build strategic partnerships and provide a variety of specialist covers where our brokers do not produce enough business to attract a standalone agency.”
